One Million iPhone 3G S units sold over the weekend

iphone3gs-pic8Apple has done it again. The company managed to sell one million new iPhone 3G S units, since its launch on Friday. This includes the early pre-orders and the retail store sales. That is pretty staggering considering this is the third generation model and just one weekend time frame.

Additionally, over six million customers have downloaded the new iPhone 3.0 software in its five days of release. “Customers are voting and the iPhone is winning,” added Apple CEO Steve Jobs. “With over 50,000 applications available from Apple’s revolutionary App Store, iPhone momentum is stronger than ever.”

The upgraded iPhone is the most powerful yet, and it features a 600mhz processor, a 3 megapixel camera with focus, record videos, hands free voice control, a more smudge-resistant screen, improved battery life and many more cool features that OS 3.0 brings. But, do not function on 3G just yet.

Apple makes money from AT&T for every iPhone that gets activated.  And developers are getting a cut from every application out of the 50,000 that are being downloaded in some way.
