Microsoft Corp and Yahoo! Inc are joining the Open Book Alliance, a newly formed group of opponents to a class action settlement the Google Book settlement that gives Google Inc the right to commercialize digital copies of millions of books. Google acquires video compression software maker On2 Technologies for $106.5 million in stock. As part of the agreement, each of On2’s outstanding shares will be converted into $0.60 worth of Google class A common stock in a stock-for-stock transaction. This places the transaction at a value of $106.5 million.
