Verizon Wireless and Google Inc announced today a partnership which will leverage the Verizon Wireless network and boost Google’s efforts to compete with Apple’s iPhone and AT&T. Microsoft Corp and Yahoo! Inc are joining the Open Book Alliance, a newly formed group of opponents to a class action settlement the Google Book settlement that gives Google Inc the right to commercialize digital copies of millions of books. Google acquires video compression software maker On2 Technologies for $106.5 million in stock. As part of the agreement, each of On2’s outstanding shares will be converted into $0.60 worth of Google class A common stock in a stock-for-stock transaction. This places the transaction at a value of $106.5 million. The break-up of Schmidt and Apple makes sense as Google and Apple are butting more heads on battlefields. Many people have always found it strange that Schmidt was on Apple’s board. But [...] Microsoft’s ‘Bing’ search engine wants to give Google a run for its money. Bing continues to gain market share against the worldwide search engine leader, Google. Bing officially launched on June 3, initially taking over what was previously the Microsoft ‘Live Search’ market share. T-Mobile is slated to launch T-Mobile New G-Phone - MyTouch. While no hardware details have been released, rumors have it that this new phone dubbed G2 is essentially a rebadged HTC Magic. T-Mobile is even treating its existing customers right.
